Like a Dragon: May 2013

Hailey saw the letter blocks when it's posted that someone played Words With Friends. She asked what's that, and I said it's a B. Do you know what sound B makes? She looked at me puzzled, and I encouraged her, Come on. Say It, c'mon and say It and you'll know what It says. B-b-b-b-b-B!
She said what's that to the next letter, and I said that's an R. What sound does arrrrr make?
She thought a Moment. R? Arrrrr? Rrrrawrrr, like a dragon!

broken truck, May 2012

Proud of my daughter Tam Collins at this moment. She finally got a good paycheck, and the truck broke down. (Isn't it funny how 'things' know?) She's currently sitting in a parking lot while truck is being worked on.
Do you know what she said to me?
She said, "Thank God the truck waited until I had a good check to do this. It would have been really bad any earlier."

Ethan: June 3, 2016

We just discovered last week that Ethan Schmidt was in Hailey's second grade class. She has some class pictures and pointed him out, so I've been showing her some pics from daddy's day way back when. She is amazed that they are/were the same size in the pictures. Not real sure why that is so strange to her. He doesnt look so much bigger in Hailey's pictures.

David Ruhstaller and Tam Collins, you have done a wonderful job teaching your daughter not everything is hers. She would not get in her new pool, all filled and waiting for her, until I specifically said "That is Hailey's pool." She did hint about it, all bashful asking "what is that, Mammaw?" and "Look at that. It has my toys."
Remarkable for a not-quite four year old at her Mammaw's house.
Good parenting.

little troublemaker June 11, 2012

am Collins, when Hailey called earlier, the first thing she said (after Mammaw? Are you there?) was "I'm not a little troublemaker. Am I a little troublemaker? I'm not a troublemaker." She had quite a time with that word, too. So whoever said that made quite an impression on her.
Just wanted you to know.

Hailey: I don' like green beans.
Rex: Why not? What's wrong with them?
Hailey: They are too green.

My granddaughter is learning her family connections. I was on the phone with her today and she said "I love my mommy."
I said, "That's good. I love your mommy, too."
"Mammaw! That's your daughter!"

Hailey woke up, says "I'm so hungry, Mammaw."
I asked her if she wanted some cereal and she said, "Yes. After my breakfast."
